Do I have to dress up? What should I wear?
Yes! Costumes are a great talking point, provide terrific entertainment, and you never need worry about being overdressed because everyone is! As for what to wear… think BDSM, fantasy, Gothic, uniform, Steampunk, Venice Carnivale, medical, futuristic, cyber, body art/decoration, drag, boudoir, circus, burlesque, showgirl, porno punk, body paint, etc… bare bums or boobs are fine but no private bits please. Please keep in mind that our strict dress code applies to all guests whether Spank veterans, or newbies. Even if you’re brand new, make the effort to make a statement and you’ll be rewarded with a night you won’t forget! If you need tips on where to shop or what sort accessories help take your ensemble from streetwear to spankwear, let us know!
Remember, No Outfit, No Entry – arrive dressed for Spank (not a night on the town) and you’ll be fine.
Note: We do not allow any regular street wear or club wear – No Denim, No Cotton T-shirts, No Regular Suits…! No discussion – No refund! Be aware that if you see someone looking plain, they may in fact be venue staff or management, so approach Spank staff first to check.
What sort of people go?
All of you with that certain distinction: fetishists (of course, and of all varieties), goths, crazy clubbers, gays/lesbians, transvestites, swingers, subs, doms, BDSM practitioners, those with wicked piercings or tattoos, wizards (yes really)… and any curious people new to this sort of thing as long as you’re open-minded and tolerant, polite and just want to have good dirty fun. We have a strict policy against sleazy or inappropriate behaviour, so if someone’s causing you grief please let us know immediately so we can have them removed!
Can I play in the dungeon?
Yes! You are encouraged to indulge in light BDSM play, but we don’t allow any breaking of skin (so no needleplay etc). Spank is a fetish dress-up event, not a sex party – so no on-premises sex or nudity please. But of course you’re quite likely to meet play partners there, and you can always invite them home for naughtiness afterwards! The dungeon is operated by our Dungeon Monitors generally from 11pm-2am. They will be able to answer any questions you may have and provide guidance or assistance as you play.
What rules apply to dungeon scenes?
Be aware that breaking these rules will mean you’ll be asked to leave – no refunds, no arguments! They’re here for the safety and enjoyment of all of our guests:
– Do not take personal photographs – we must protect the privacy of our guests, and do provide official photography services.
– Players have priority in the play area – give them space, avoid loud conversations close to those who are playing and do not sit on the equipment. If you’re asked to move back, please do so immediately.
– Never interrupt a ‘scene’ (ongoing BDSM play) – this includes talking to players, making comments, joining in (unless invited).
– Never touch a player without politely asking first. No means no, all the time. All that goes on anywhere in the club must be consensual. If you plan play that appears non-consensual please ask the Dungeon Monitor first and always follow club rules.
– The club safeword is RED, meaning all play stops. If your partner does not act on this the DM will enforce if necessary.
– No needle play, sharps, blood play or breaking of skin.
– If you are concerned about anything you see, speak to the DM – if you’re in doubt or unfamiliar with what’s going on, or require assistance, we are here to help.
– No smoking in the vicinity of the dungeon. This causes discomfort for players and staff – do not be offended if you are asked to move or butt out.
Can I take photos?
No. Our priority is the comfort of all our guests, and whilst you may want to spend the evening taking selfies, other partygoers may want to protect their privacy. We provide a wall against which to take pictures with your friends, as well as an official Spank photographer roving to take photos (with your permission) for our own use, or a Photobooth area. You can then download those photos for free from the Spank website or from
Facebook. We are very responsive to requests to take down photographs, so please get in touch with us if you have any concerns. If you think that you’ve been caught in someone’s happy snap and you’re concerned about your privacy, let us know and we’ll ask to have the photo deleted.
Are cloakroom services available?
Yes, cloak room services are available – check individual event listings for more information.
What kind of music or entertainment can we expect?
A mix of dirty industrial, EBM, techno, Goth, house, and more, with at least three resident DJs taking turns to keep the dance floor hot all night! Our large annual balls offer entertainment such as live shows (past entertainment includes fetish shows, burlesque acts, gogo dancing, drag performances, live air-brushing and more). Our regular mini-Spanks are a little more small scale, however they do still offer the dungeon area for play, and in the past have included burlesque acts, human angle-grinding, gogo dancers, stalls, live art, roving contortionists, and more.
What sort of facilities are available?
Depending on venues, most Spank events provide access to ATM facilities, full bar with beer, wine, spirits, cocktails, dance floor and lounge areas. For specific facility information, please check individual event listings.
How long has Spank been making waves?
Spank kicked off in Perth way back in 2006. That first party attracted 200 people and formed a tight community of Spankers from a range of backgrounds. Since then, attendance has grown steadily and Spank is now one of Australia’s foremost fetish events; it has even been lucky enough to attract the likes of bondage model Emily Marilyn, who has travelled to Australia to perform at two Spank parties. Spank is run by the team at
Azure Entertainment who are known for their award-winning productions, ranging from sensual burlesque shows to high-impact Lucha Libre cabaret shows! Azure are committed to promoting Perth’s thriving kink scene whilst maintaining professionalism and high standards at each and every event.
